About Me

Hello! My name is Cierra Garrison. I graduated from the University of Kansas in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. I am currently working on my Master’s Degree to become a Reading Interventionist through Emporia State University. I have taught first grade for 5 years in the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District and look forward to continuing to do so.

Through my eyes, an Institutional Coach is a resource in the building that teachers can go to, to gain insight on educational best practices.

My Mission:

Always being a listening ear for teachers to bounce ideas off, free of judgement. Building a repertoire of skills and assets to help teachers become the best versions of themselves.

Goals & Values:

  • I value advocating for teachers, and being a voice for them when they do not feel as if theirs is being heard.

  • I never want teachers to be intimidated by my presence. I will never cast judgements.

  • Before adding more to my teacher’s plates, I want to make sure I am knowledgeable enough on the topic to answer any questions the teachers may have.

Goals & Values:

  • Full understanding of curriculum

  • Observing classrooms to better understand teachers needs.

  • Modeling when necessary.

  • Mentoring

  • Helping teachers break down & understand data
